Why is it so hard to get motivated?

I told myself we’d finish our Social Studies book over the summer, along with keeping up on reading and math lessons. Nothing major, just to keep in practice.

Yet here we are, half way through July, and we are only a quarter of the way though said Social Studies book, and while we have been doing reading, we have yet to do a moment’s math.

PLUS we have Scouts work to do, and her Karate homework is unfinished hanging on the fridge.

I am such a slacker….

Summer Reading Program

This year, like every other year, we are particpating in the library’s summer reading program. This summer, the theme is Catch the Reading Bug! The kids get goofy little prizes for reading books, they enjoy turning in their forms, and picking from the vast array of things from Oriental Trading Company.

This year though is unlike any other year. This year, DD (age 5) gets credit for reading aloud and DS (age 2) gets credit for listening! Know what that means?? Mommy gets to read “The Other Boleyn Girl” silently just for her own pleasure!! WOOT!!

Getting geared up for fall :)

I am currently researching what we are going to be doing this fall. Of course, DD will be returning to Central Valley Homeschool, and I have most of her books picked out. This year, DS will start having more school time too.

So far, I have picked up a fun bug sorting game for him, and I have found a few resources for more ideas as we go along. I made him a Tot Book today, staring his favorite character Lightning McQueen!
